Abstract

This paper focuses on the education of Roma children in Romania from a theoretical perspective. It describes the right to education as stipulated by international documents, and analyses the access to education in correlation to economic indicators. This research also discusses the participation of Roma in the educational process and concludes with a discussion on the need for Romanian authorities to consider the cultural dimension in all educational policies.
