Abstract

This article examines critically the historical evotution of the role of the health mediator in Romania fom 1999 to the present, and provides a comparative analysis of the evolution of the Roma communities with and without the mediator. Programs and policies in the last decade find the health mediator as the main componentin improving the health situation of the Roma people. This study rejects the positive impact of the health mediator on Roma communities and the need to strengthen the health mediation program in order to ensure lts sustainability and expansion.
