Legile lui Duverger. Influenta sistemelor electorale asupra sistemelor de partid

Abstract

The article builds on the famous Duverger’s Laws, established in the 1950s regarding the influence of electoral systems on party systems. Duverger’s work gave rise to extensive debates. The critics question not just the patterns proposed by Duverger, but also his methodology: whether it is really possible to talk about true social “laws”, which can be verified and falsified. The present article tries to clarify the relationship between the electoral systems and the party systems summing up the most important contributions that have enriched the social sciences in the past half century.
