Abstract

In this article I examined how changing context in which the choice is taken can influence and change the choice that individuals make. To verify this I conducted an experiment which has students from the Faculty of Political Science, NUPSPA-Bucharest as respondents (N=207) which were randomly divided into 3 groups (two experimental groups and one control group) and were asked if they will buy a life insurance policy which cost 98Euro/year in case of death in different contexts. The results were as follows: in the case of control group, 67.7% of respondents answered yes, while in the case of the experimental group 1 and experimental group 2, respondents answered yes in proportion of 74.3%, respectively 52.8%. As a result of chi-square test the result was that the null hypothesis is not rejected, which means that the differences between results are statistically insignificant. However, in Section IV, I presented two possible causes of statistically insignificant differences between responses of each experimental condition (C1-C2-C3).
